Ben Aston:
The DPM podcast is where we go beyond the theory to offer expert PM advice to help you lead better digital projects. Thank you for listening. Ben Aston is the founder of The Digital Project Manager. It’s not surprising that we find ourselves in the digital wild west we call home, with a very tight budget, unclear scope, and a tight time frame. But what do we do if we have only two weeks to complete the project? Today’s podcast will discuss how to effectively plan and execute projects when there isn’t enough time. If you want to learn what corners you can cut and how much your project will be ruined, keep listening.
Ben Aston:
Jenna Trunzo is joining me today. Jenna Trunzo is a Certified ScrumMaster and a Certified Product Owner. She’s also a Globant project manager, at least that’s what I believe. They are a North Carolina company. We’ll talk about her journey to become a project manager. She describes it as a happy accident. We’ll discover the details of that accident. She now uses her skills to help teams move forward in this agency that focuses a lot on Agile. Jenna, I’d love to talk about this as well. It’s nice to have you on the program today.
Jenna Trunzo:
Hey Ben, thank you so much for having us. And good job, that you correctly pronounced it. It is Globant.
Ben Aston:
Globant. Globant. Is it just a name that sounds a lot like Global or something more?
Jenna Trunzo:
I would love to tell a fancy story that would make it interesting, but I don’t really know.
Ben Aston:
I used to work at an agency called FCV, and people wanted to know what FCV stood for.
Jenna Trunzo:
Right.
Ben Aston:
It doesn’t really stand for anything. It was once used to represent False Creek Ventures. But that doesn’t sound like… A, it doesn’t sound good and B, it doesn’t really sound like an agency.
Jenna Trunzo:
You just made up stories, right?
Ben Aston:
It was FCV. Yeah. Unfortunately, when you say FCV over the telephone, it sounds like a lot of things, including STD.
Jenna Trunzo:
It’s not nice, right?
Ben Aston:
Yes, you should be cautious.
Jenna Trunzo:
Sure.
Ben Aston:
Let’s not get into the names. Let us know a little about your work at Globant.
Jenna Trunzo:
Sure. Globant has a project manager. Everything, from data migration to artificial Intelligence, is what we do. It all depends on the project. I have done everything, from very small projects to the current project which is quite large. There is a lot of variation here. The company employs approximately 8,000 people. I’m here in Raleigh. There are approximately 150 people in this office.
Ben Aston:
Cool. Tell us a little bit about your story. It’s a happy accident, you say. You were a graphic designer, marketing manager, and then project manager. What was the accident? What was the happy accident? Tell us about it.
Jenna Trunzo:
Right. Yes. Yes.
